Shine Bright Like A Diamond: How to Be Your Own Ray of Self-Love

“You’re a shining star, no matter who you are. Shine bright like a diamond, let your soul ignite.”

These lyrics hit different, don’t they? We’re constantly cheering others on, pushing them to shine, to believe in themselves. But let’s be real, you – yes, you – are the star of your own show. It’s time to turn that spotlight inward.

We’re so good at taking care of everyone else. We cook, we listen, we support without a second thought. But when it comes to ourselves, you know the drill: we’re last on the list. It’s like we're constantly pouring from an empty cup. Sometimes we say, how can we take care of others if our cup is empty, and that is true, but I want you to know that even that reasoning is STILL putting yourself last. We are to take care of ourselves as an act of love. Many of the things we accept as women will cease to happen if we truly show love to ourselves as we won't accept anything less from anyone else, so

Stop right there.

It's time to recognize that self-care isn’t selfish; it's essential. Imagine a plane losing altitude because the pilots are neglecting to put on their own oxygen masks. That's you if you're not looking after yourself.

So, how do you start filling up your cup?

  • Resolve within yourself. Know you deserve love and make the decision to give it to yourself
  • Prioritize you. Yes, you. Schedule time for what makes you happy, whether it's a bubble bath or binge-watching your favorite show.
  • Set boundaries. It’s okay to say no. You don’t owe anyone an explanation.
  • Be kind to yourself. Talk to yourself like you’d talk to a friend going through a tough time, and no- you're not "crazy''. You'd be crazy not to. You deserve that kindness.
  • Nourish your body. Feed it good food, move it, and rest it.
  • Connect with your mind. Meditation, journaling, prayer– whatever helps you unwind.

Saying no doesn’t make you a bad person. It actually makes you a strong person. You don't have to be everything to everyone. Sometimes I think we do this because we still ache validation and acceptance by those around us and that is normal- within its bounds. But know that YOU are enough, just as you are.

Know that you deserve love, happiness, and fulfillment. It’s time to shine your brightest light. You are a diamond, and it’s time for your soul to ignite.

Step out and shine bright, you beautiful you.

Love,

Lady Ray
