Aligning Your Reasoning: Why We Do What We Do

Ever found yourself doing something and then struggling to answer the question’ why on earth did I just do that? Or why did I really say that? Even deeper yet, what exactly is this weird feeling am I feeling right now because of SOMETHING that was triggered?   Maybe you said you were going to the gym because you wanted to get fit, but deep down, you were just trying to avoid work or just wanted to look like a cute fitness enthusiast in the eyes of onlookers. Or perhaps you claimed you bought that new dress because it was on sale, but really, you wanted to feel more confident and lift your low spirits. Sometimes there’s this disconnect between our actions and our reasons   and us really zoning in on what these true reasons are but your not alone, cause it actually is a crazy common human experience. It's like saying you're only going to the bar or restaurant ( liming) because you want to see your friends, but we all know the real reason is to drink away your sorrows. It isn...

Seizing the Day: A Limitless Lady's Journey

Feeling stuck in a rut? Tired of letting your circumstances dictate your life? It's time to seize the day and take control of your destiny. In this blog post, we'll explore the power of a positive mindset and the importance of overcoming challenges to achieve your goals. This morning, I woke up feeling like a walking zombie. For the past week my throat was a sandpaper storm, and my voice was a mere whisper. The last thing I wanted to do was leave the comfort of my bed, even to attend church. But as I lay there, half-asleep and half-awake, something peculiar happened. In a moment of coughing clarity, I realized that I had already decided not to go. My subconscious had apparently weighed the pros and cons of attending church compared to getting a few extra hours of sleep, while I was blissfully unaware, and had concluded that staying in bed and ditching the commute, was the superior option. Now, I'm not one to let a little thing like a sore throat dictate my life. So...

The Divine Download: When Your Inner Critic Gets Static

Ever try to have a heart-to-heart with God, only to be bombarded by a mental mosh pit of nonsensical thoughts?  All of a sudden you realize that you’re hungry or a story a girlfriend told you since last week. Sometimes a little self questioning chooses just that moment to distract. Or maybe you're about to do something a little...well, questionable, and suddenly the universe seems to throw you a high five? Like what?! Yep, been there, sisterhood. But in the midst of the mental mayhem, there's always that quiet whisper, that gentle nudge that reminds us to hit pause. It's the voice that says, "Peace be still," or maybe a more direct "Young lady, hold up right there. That path leads to a dead end. Not another step." Unleashing Your Inner You is A Divine Collaboration Here's the beautiful and often unspoken( untaught) truth: a big chunk of discovering who you truly are involves letting God show you His masterpiece. Think about it. A manufactur...

Permission Granted: By My Own Self!

I've always been a seeker of approval. As a child, I'd often hesitate before asking a question, fearing that my query might be deemed to chatty unless given permission to speak. Little girls are seen and not heard right. Instead I delved into the unknown worlds offered by books and the television earning the name ' TV Pest'.  This habit carried over into adulthood, where I found myself constantly seeking validation from others, even in matters related to my dreams and aspirations. It wasn't until a few years ago that I realized the detrimental effects of this mindset. I had the opportunity to purchase a few acres of land at an incredibly affordable price. Excited about the prospect, I sought advice from a respected elder in our community. To my dismay, their response was overwhelmingly negative. They cited various reasons why the investment wasn't a good idea, effectively discouraging me from pursuing it. Years later, I learned that the information about the...

Why On Earth Do I Doubt Myself Again?

Finding someone who  sees  you as a young woman is a treasure . It’s more than just compliments or affirmations; it’s about having someone who recognizes your potential, your strengths, and even your blind spots. We often know how to navigate the social landscape, but when it comes to charting our career paths or financial futures, our family goals, we can feel lost. It's unwise to share this lost feeling with just any and everyone. This is where mentorship becomes invaluable. Last night, I had a conversation with one of my mentors that left me questioning why I ever doubted myself. It was a profound reminder of the power of someone believing in you when you're not quite sure yourself. Remember the story of Mary, Jesus’ mother? At the wedding in Cana, when the wine ran out, the servants panicked. But Mary, with a quiet confidence, knew exactly what to do. She told the servants to do whatever Jesus t...

Rewriting YOUR story: Facing Fears

Hey Limitless Ladies! Yesterday I was talking to a friend about the things I said I would do when I grew up as a child. By the time I was in my 20s, 30s and 40s I'd be wearing certain types of clothes, I'd be travelin' and just living my best adult life. I so wanted to grow up and get to those ages - fast! I also remember fear and confusion. It's like that feeling of pure terror when you were a kid, facing a closed door when you hear a noise you could not place. You had no idea what awaited you on the other side – a robber, a monster under the bed, or something entirely different. Back then, just opening the door could feel like a monumental feat, especially when your siblings teased you endlessly because  you were afraid of the dark on the other side, or they magnified your fears by being afraid with you or  even when your parents keep telling you ' what you afraid of- gwan fo de ting' and you sometimes out of fear of punishment, walked through that door. Now, f...

Belonging vs. Being True to Yourself: A Call to Authenticity

Have you ever felt the pressure to conform?   To fit in, to be accepted? To belong? Maybe you've sacrificed your passions, your voice, or even your dreams to maintain a sense of belonging in a particular group, whether it's a family, a church, a workplace, or even a social circle. It's a common human experience, but it's one that can be incredibly limiting. I’m learning that the concept of "belonging" is often misused as a tool of control. It's wielded like a double-edged sword: a threat to those who don't conform and a reward for those who do. It could also show the individual need for a mindset shift because of perception, personal references points or plain stupid bad 'broughtupsy' ( socialization for my non Caribbean readers). But here's the harsh truth: conforming to fit in might earn you a place at the table, but it often comes at the cost of your authenticity. It's like trading your soul for a seat, and does that make sense? Let...

Shine Bright Like A Diamond: How to Be Your Own Ray of Self-Love

“You’re a shining star, no matter who you are. Shine bright like a diamond, let your soul ignite.” These lyrics hit different, don’t they? We’re constantly cheering others on, pushing them to shine, to believe in themselves. But let’s be real, you – yes, you – are the star of your own show. It’s time to turn that spotlight inward. We’re so good at taking care of everyone else. We cook, we listen, we support without a second thought. But when it comes to ourselves, you know the drill: we’re last on the list. It’s like we're constantly pouring from an empty cup. Sometimes we say, how can we take care of others if our cup is empty, and that is true, but I want you to know that even that reasoning is STILL putting yourself last. We are to take care of ourselves as an act of love. Many of the things we accept as women will cease to happen if we truly show love to ourselves as we won't accept anything less from anyone else, so Stop right there. It's time to recognize that se...
